Megan Martinez Goltz
Artist Statement:
I am a film director and editor sharing transformative stories of individuals and communities through cinema. Built upon relationships of trust and respect, I co-create films with participants by honoring each person's capacity to go beyond the limits of comfort, routine, borders, and time. Weaving medicine into entertainment, my films share a window into individual and collective movement, unlocking both body and memory through expressions of dance, food, song and immersion into traditions. I create space for healing by honoring the humanity - of elders as they pass on their teachings, queer folks as they share their experiences, fragments of family history and a lineage of collective memory. Creating immersive soundscapes blended with vibrant histories across generations, borders, and languages, I embrace storytelling to pave a pathway to ancestral and community connection. I am dedicated to sharing stories in ways that mirror the limitless nature of experience.
